University students Cynthia Chhoa and Danika Marchenko appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the WA alcohol and other drug sector as part of WANADA’s Student Placement Program.
Research and Policy Intern Cynthia Chhoa is from Malaysia and came to Perth in 2016. Cynthia is currently completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Australia and will be entering the Doctor of Medicine course next year.
Cynthia came into this internship through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship and is working on regional fact sheets to support and inform sector input into the Western Australian Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Plan 2015-2025 Mid-Term Review. Cynthia is excited for the opportunity to conduct research and learn more about the WA health sector and the community.
Danika Marchenko recently completed an industry placement facilitated by WANADA as part of her Bachelor of Health Science in Addiction Studies and Nutrition at Edith Cowan University (ECU). Danika worked with residents and staff at Tenacious House in Bullsbrook to create meal plans and online shopping lists that will make preparing nutritious meals easier.
"I really enjoyed the contact with residents and staff,” says Danika, who appreciated the opportunity to contribute to Tenacious House's developing programs.
