WA Alcohol & Other Drug Conference 2025
The Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA) with Presenting Partner Hope Community Services is pleased to host the WA Alcohol and other Drug Conference 2025 over 5 – 7 March 2025 at Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges, Walyalup/Fremantle.
The conference promises to be a significant event for the WA alcohol and other drug sector. The conference will bring together a mix of WA alcohol and other drug professionals, service users and their families, researchers, academics, students, not-for-profit organisations, NGOs, and government representatives for an important exchange of ideas and insights on alcohol and other drugs. Through a structured program of discussions, workshops and sessions, we will seek to explore collaborations, and reflect on the unique and complex workings of alcohol and other drug systems.
The Western Australian Alcohol and other Drug Excellence Awards will be presented throughout the conference, recognising remarkable achievements and innovations within the sector.
Celebrating WANADA’s 40th year anniversary and Hope’s 120-year milestone, we warmly invite you to join us for an event that offers a unique opportunity to promote a shared voice, encouraging sector partnership and solidarity as we work towards a whole-of-community approach to alcohol and other drug issues.

What to Expect
The 2025 Western Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Conference will be a vital gathering for professionals in the Alcohol and Other Drug sector and community members alike, aimed at exploring and sharing insights on the unique and complex dynamics of the sector from both metropolitan and regional viewpoints.
This year’s conference is designed to enhance professional networks, tackle shared challenges, and develop strategies that will positively impact our community. Building on the success of the 2021 WA Alcohol and Other Drug Conference, which featured keynote speeches from Common Cause Co-Founder Mark Chenery and Emeritus Professor Geoff Gallop, the focus remains on reducing stigma and encouraging community support for reform.
Over the course of three days, the conference will center around three key themes: Pathways, Systems, and Strategies. These themes are designed to provide a deeper understanding of sector issues, exploring strategies to address system gaps and barriers while encouraging positive initiatives. They will encompass organisational contributions, solutions, and emerging challenges in the alcohol and other drug sector.
Each day will feature breakout sessions following keynote addresses related to each theme, offering attendees opportunities to discuss and develop ideas, strategies, and goals.
