Last Conference
The Western Australian Alcohol and other Drug Conference – Shifting Perspectives, Alcohol and other drugs: everybody’s story, brought alcohol and other drug workers and consumers together with researchers, policy makers and other stakeholders at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2021.
Keynote speakers Mark Chenery from Common Cause and former WA Premier Emeritus Professor Geoff Gallop urged attendees to reflect on ways to reduce stigma and discrimination faced by individuals affected by alcohol and other drug use, and to foster community support for reform.
Several delegates suggested future conferences could include an increased focus intersecting issues with alcohol and other drug including homelessness, domestic and family violence.
Logo Explanation
The Western Australian Network of Alcohol and Other Drug Agencies 2025 conference logo was designed by Known Associates Australia—a 100% Aboriginally owned company. Collaborating with Known Associates’ Indigenous designer, the logo captures the conference’s core themes, intertwining cultural significance with the journey of its delegates.
The vibrant dots within the logo symbolise the individual journeys of attendees, and the pathways that alcohol and other drug professionals create for their clients. Central to the design is a circle (meeting point) highlighting Perth on our abstract map of Australia, representing the gathering place where professionals unite to share their stories and experiences to grow and develop.
The logo embodies a sense of community and connection, bringing together professionals within the sector. It promotes inclusivity and understanding while emphasising the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange. As delegates come together, they forge new pathways and strengthen their collective commitment to supporting those affected by alcohol and other drugs.
