Congratulations to Our Award Finalists!

WANADA is thrilled to announce the finalists for the Western Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Excellence Awards 2025, which will be presented during the 2025 WA Alcohol and Other Drug Conference, Pathways, Systems, Strategies, over Wednesday 5 – Friday 7 March 2025 at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges in Walyalup/Fremantle.

These awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and programs within the Western Australian alcohol and other drug sector, showcasing their dedication to improving community outcomes.

Award Categories

The Alcohol and Other Drug Excellence Awards 2025 categories are:

This category celebrates the achievements made by a program or organisation that has designed and implemented effective AOD prevention, community development and/or building AOD capacity/capability. The development and implementation of effective prevention and community development or building capacity/capability initiatives contributes to reducing AOD harm in the community.

This category celebrates the achievements of a program or organisation that has implemented evidence-informed AOD harm reduction strategies. Harm reduction includes policies, programs and practices that aim to reduce the adverse health, social and economic consequences of AOD use for individuals or communities.

This category celebrates the achievements of a program or organisation providing treatment services. Effective treatment, including medical or psychosocial approaches, can significantly improve the health and quality of life for people who experience issues associated with AOD use.

This category celebrates a program or organisations that develop and sustain effective partnerships to achieve improved AOD outcomes. Genuine partnerships with key stakeholders, including inter- and intra-sector services, contributes to the achievement of improved AOD outcomes.

This category celebrates the achievements of a program or organisation that has implemented effective AOD responses and achieved improved outcomes for Aboriginal peoples. The prevention and reduction of AOD harms for Aboriginal peoples and communities requires culturally appropriate responses.

This category celebrates the achievements of a program or organisation that has effectively included families and significant others. Involving families and significant others in treatment and support programs can result in improved AOD outcomes for individuals, families and the community.

This category celebrates the achievements made by a program or organisation working to prevent and reduce AOD-related harm amongst young people. Implementing effective information, education, early intervention and treatment programs for young people can result in the prevention and reduction of AOD harms.

This category celebrates the achievements of a program or organisation that has applied evidenced research to improve alcohol and other drug outcomes. Translating research into practice is the ideal that many services and policy makers strive for.

This category celebrates a program, organisation, or group that has shown significant commitment to consumer engagement, with consumers contributing to service planning, design and implementation that positively affects others. Effective consumer engagement can contribute to improved service quality and outcomes.
