About the role

The AOD Lived Experience (Peer) Worker is a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at the St James Transitional Care Unit (EMHS). They bring Lived Experience expertise to support consumers and carers dealing with alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns. This role focuses on person-centred, recovery-focused, and trauma-informed care, actively contributing to the consumer’s care journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a Peer Work Framework to support recovery, including recovery and discharge planning.
  • Provide direct AOD support to individual clients.
  • Advocate for consumer perspectives within the MDT and external services.
  • Work with consumers to provide feedback on recovery progress, barriers, and achievements.
  • Assist with admissions, introductions, orientation, and coaching.

Pay Level is equivalent to Level 4 – Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
