We are seeking applications for the position of Counsellor Educator to work at our North Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service (NMCADS) Warwick. The position is offered as a maximum term contract to no later than 6th April 2026, working part-time 11.5 hours per week.

The Counsellor Educator

This role focusses on treatment and prevention strategies associated with reducing the harm associated with alcohol and other drug use.  The Counsellor Educator will be required to provide proficient culturally secure counselling, education and support to consumers, families, and the local community. Experience in family and couples counselling will be highly regarded.

Cyrenian House is a leading not-for-profit non-government organisation that has been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981. Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs.

Hours of Work

Part-time, 11.5 hours per week on a maximum term contract until 6th April 2026.

Level 4/5 $90,329 – $106,679 per annum.

To be considered for these positions, you will require the following key attributes:

  • A degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector.
  • Well demonstrated and well-developed assessment and counselling skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with consumers experiencing issues related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Well-developed self-management skills to cope with difficult cases and manage stress.
  • Knowledge of services and community resources relevant to the needs of the consumer group
  • Experience and ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Experience in delivering education and training programs to human service providers and community groups.
  • Full work rights, National Police Clearance, current First Aid Certificate, and full Drivers Licence.
