About the Role:
Cyrenian House is seeking a dedicated and passionate Aboriginal Outreach Counsellor to join our team. This role will provide culturally secure counselling, case management, and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families seeking residential treatment through our Residential Pathways Program. The Aboriginal Outreach Counsellor will ensure culturally appropriate support and engagement.
You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary team, offering both site-based and outreach support to enhance accessibility to our services.
This is a maximum term contract position working full-time for a period of two years and will be located at Cyrenian Central Office on Fitzgerald Street, Perth.
Level 4-5 and salary per annum $93,490 – $110,413 per annum (depending on experience).

To be appointed / successful in this role you will require the following key qualifications, skills and experience:
- Provide culturally secure counselling and case management, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers and build strong, trusting relationships.
- Conduct assessments and assist in internal and external referrals, ensuring appropriate treatment options.
- Develop and deliver culturally appropriate educational programs and therapeutic group sessions to support lifestyle changes and address addiction-related behaviours.
- Maintain up-to-date records, case notes, and statistical reports to ensure high-quality service delivery to enhance our service model and community outreach initiatives.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act).
- Minimum Certificate III in Community Services and AOD, or equivalent experience in an Indigenous AOD service.
- Strong understanding of alcohol and other drug issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Current National Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate, valid driver’s license, and reliable vehicle.
