About the role

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Registered Nurses to join our Low Medical Withdrawal Unit (LMWU) located in Midland.

The Registered Nurse will work within the Low Medical Withdrawal Unit (LMWU) with a team of support workers to provide withdrawal management in accordance with the service model and associated governance. The Nurse will work with referring General Practitioners, and the multidisciplinary team to provide treatment to consumers of the LMWU. The position will also be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, monitoring, and development of treatment plans and exit plans.

The Registered Nurse will provide harm minimisation information/interventions and referrals for consumers and their families, as required.

The role is offered on a part-time basis working 41 hours per fortnight. $107,120 – $113,111 per annum (depending on experience) plus superannuation and shift penalties.

This role includes working alternative weekends (7 am to 11 am), allowing for a balanced schedule while ensuring consistent, quality care for our clients.

To be appointed / successful in this role you will require the following key qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Approved tertiary qualification in Nursing.
  • Current and ongoing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting clinical assessments, risk assessments and developing comprehensive plans for patients/consumers.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug withdrawal symptoms and management.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and medication management.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the management of co-occurring AOD and mental health conditions.
  • Experience working with consumers from diverse backgrounds and different cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated and well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • Full Work Rights, a current Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate, and a Drivers Licence.
  • Experience working in an alcohol and other drugs and/or mental health clinical setting, will be highly regarded.
