About the role

The Counsellor Educator will support women within Wandoo Women’s Prison who have experienced AOD and a range of other issues, including family and domestic violence.

The position will report directly to the Clinical Coordinator and will work closely with Department of Justice staff to ensure the provision of professional alcohol and other drug (AOD) group work, counselling, and education to the residents in a prison environment.

About the organisation

Cyrenian House have been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981, and in 2018 commenced service at Wandoo Women’s Prison TC, this being the only prison TC operated in Western Australia and has achieved remarkable results since its inception.

This role is full-time, 76 hours per fortnight. Level 4- Level 5 $90,329 – $106,679 depending on experience.

To be successful in this role you will require the following key attributes:

  • Possess a degree in Social, Behavioural or Health Sciences and experience in the alcohol and other drug sector.
  • An understanding of “Community as Method Treatment Model”.
  • Previous experience working with consumers experiencing issues related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Well-developed assessment and counselling skills.
  • Current National Police Certificate /Justice Clearance.
  • Full Work rights, Current Driver’s Licence and First Aid Certificate.
