About Us

Palmerston Association is a leading and respected not-for-profit provider of alcohol and other drug services. We have a rich and proud history of providing support through a range of services including counselling, groups, residential rehabilitation, and educational initiatives.

About the Role

The Counsellor Educator’s role is to provide culturally secure counselling, education, and support to individuals, families, and the local community, requiring a sound level of clinical knowledge and skills.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with young people and their families
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug issues
  • Well-developed assessment and counselling skills
  • An understanding of prevention and willingness to promote it
  • Ability to design and deliver activities to a range of audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
  • High-level communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel

Pay Level: Equivalent to Level 4 – Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
