About the Role
This pivotal role leads the operational management of the Rick Hammersley Centre Therapeutic Community. This involves leadership of a team of approximately 30 staff, and responsibility for the effective management of the facility and service.
The position reports to the General Manager, Residential and Withdrawal Services and is part of the leadership team which will contribute to the ongoing development of our organisation.
The Manager will facilitate in the provision of a professional Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) service to consumers, families and significant others within a residential setting, utilising the Community as Method (CAM) treatment approach.
The role is full-time based at our Rick Hammersley Centre site in Cullacabardee. Level 8/9 $129,077 -$146,699 per annum.
About the Service
Rick Hammersley TC is located on 32 acres of natural bushland in Cullacabardee, close to Ellenbrook. The service offers two (2) residential programs:
Gnagara Program (50 beds) – A four staged program catering to men and women aged 18 years or over. A strengths-based approach, therapeutic interventions and positive peer support to teach and encourage self-responsibility and guide consumers towards optimal health and wellbeing.
Saranna Women and Children’s Program (14 cottages) – This program enables women to live with and care for their young children onsite whilst engaging in treatment. Each family is accommodated in their own individual house on the property. Consumers participate in the overall treatment program and have specialised aspects of their own program aimed at parenting and family relationships.

Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs. Cyrenian House provided services to approximately 5000 people in 2020, and we employ over 200 staff across our eight main service locations.
To be appointed / successful in this role you will require the following key qualifications, skills and experience:
- Relevant qualifications in social behavioural sciences or equivalent
- Ability to provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of the Therapeutic Community Model, and the ability to lead a service using this treatment approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a senior management team in accordance with a whole of organisation
- Ability to think strategically and lead change management and service development processes.
- A sound knowledge of AOD theory, mental health and related issues.
- Ability to work well with Aboriginal residents and staff including an understanding of working within a culturally secure
- Well-developed organisational and time management
- Committed to ethical
