The Intersection of Violence and Drug Use Among Women

The National Drug Research Institute is hosting a webinar titled The Intersection of Violence and Drug Use Among Women, taking place on Wednesday, 16 April from 2:00–2:45 PM.

This event will explore the impact of gender-based violence on women who use drugs, including increased police interactions, higher overdose risk, and barriers to treatment.

Professor Gail Gilchrist (King’s College London) will present global research on violence and drug use among women. Dr Sam Colledge-Frisby (Curtin University) will share findings on healthcare access for women who inject drugs. Jade Lane (Burnet Institute) will discuss community-led alternatives for supporting women with lived experience. The webinar will be facilitated by Dr Shelley Walker and Emma Vieira from NDRI.
