Promoting Positive Strategies and Outcomes
Promoting positive strategies and outcomes
WANADA met with Professor Stanley Nangala, Aunty Oriel Green and CEO of Milliya Rumurra Aboriginal Corporation Andrew Amor this week as we continued discussions on strategies to enhance and improve outcomes for Aboriginal service users, families and the community in the Alcohol and Other Drug sector.
We recognise elders are highly regarded in their communities, and we appreciate the time they take to engage in these important discussions.
As we celebrate #NAIDOCWeek, WANADA remains dedicated to building culturally secure capacity across the AOD service sector and is committed to promoting reconciliation and fostering the valuable contributions that Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people make to deliver meaningful, lasting outcomes for Aboriginal people, families and communities.
The theme for NAIDOC Week 2024, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,” highlights the resilient spirit within Aboriginal communities. This week’s discussion included reflection on the importance of a united effort to amplify Indigenous voices while inspiring younger generations to preserve culture and traditions as well as maintaining efforts to support the recommendations made in the Aboriginal alcohol and other drug sector leadership project report.
WANADA would also like to acknowledge respected Elder Aunty Oriel Green who was appointed the inaugural Holder of the Keys to the City of Wanneroo earlier this year.
