Cyrenian House is seeking an experienced and passionate individual with strong clinical knowledge, excellent skills, and a proven track record in the alcohol and drug sector to join our dynamic team at the Rick Hamersley site in Cullacabardee. If you’re dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by alcohol and other drugs, this is the role for you!

About the Role

The role of Counsellor Educator within the Therapeutic Community (Gnangara Program) will provide professional and culturally secure counselling, group educational sessions and support to residents and their families.

You will work within the therapeutic community framework, utilising your expertise to support the Community as Method model of treatment. Your role will be integral in empowering individuals to achieve meaningful change.

Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs.

Hours of Work

Working full-time 76 hours per fortnight.

Level 4 -Level 5 – $93,490 – $110,413 per annum

To be considered for these positions, you will require the following key attributes:

  • A degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector.
  • Well demonstrated and well-developed assessment and counselling skills.
  • Proven experience in working with consumers experiencing issues related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Well-developed self-management skills to cope with difficult cases and manage stress.
  • Knowledge of services and community resources relevant to the needs of the consumer group.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Experience in delivering education and training programs to human service providers and community groups.
  • Full work rights, National Police Clearance, current First Aid Certificate, and full Drivers Licence.
