Learning Together: Cultural Awareness and Competency
Earlier this month, WANADA took part in a Cultural Awareness and Cultural Competency Learning Session at Marr Mooditj Training Centre in Waterford.
The session was facilitated by Edith Cowan University lecturers Ken Hayward and Janelle Caddy, who guided staff through a range of topics, including trauma-informed practice in an Aboriginal context, history and connecting the past to the present, ways of working with respect to culture and spirituality, as well as family and kinship, extended family, and skin groups.
This session offered important insights into Aboriginal perspectives, enhancing cultural understanding and supporting more culturally responsive practice.
