Your Opportunity

Mission Australia’s Drug and Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) provide young people and their families’ access to a comprehensive range of free and confidential alcohol and other drug services.

Residential Rehabilitation aims to provide young people with a friendly, supportive, and structured environment to complete a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Its focus is to provide both physical and emotional safety while they engage in treatment to transition back into the community.

Based in Carlisle but working primarily out of the East Perth location, as an AOD Case Manager you will provide case coordination with vulnerable young people and their families/carers. You will contribute to positive outcomes aligned to the service contract requirements, including the counselling, group facilitation and education with young people at risk or experiencing issues impacting on their lives.

You must be in the office on a Monday, and we are flexible with how you choose to work the hours. You can work 3 full days a week or shorter hours over 5 days a week.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to referrals to the service from internal and external support services and coordinate case allocations
  • Complete assessments and intake processes for allocated people, including all necessary paperwork and data entry
  • Work with young people to develop holistic and strength-based case plans
  • Provide advocacy and referral to appropriate services enabling young people to achieve their individual goals
  • Facilitate education groups and service information sessions for young people
  • Create and maintain comprehensive individual case management files for all allocated young people in line with Mission Australia protocols
  • Complete a range of other administrative duties for the efficient running of the service including statistics, reports, referral letters, goal plans etc

You may be required to be on call on a rotating basis for a full week.

Requirements for Success

With a significant background in the AOD and/or child, youth & family sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes.  Other requirements include:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science/Youth Work or a minimum of three years’ experience in an AOD role.
  • Strong knowledge and application of child and adolescent development and child and youth safe practices.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to tailor communication appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to provide outreach engagement and support with young people experiencing risk factors in their life. This will require perseverance, flexibility, and innovation.
  • Highly competent administration and report-writing ability.
  • Must have a Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
