About Tenacious

House Tenacious House provides an innovative, voluntary residential rehabilitation program for men who are experiencing co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. Our Integrated Recovery and Connection Program combines residential treatment, hospital shared care, and community services to deliver an evidence-based, holistic recovery approach. We are seeking passionate and reliable Peer Support Workers to join our growing team and walk alongside participants as they rebuild their lives through recovery, connection, and purpose.

About the role

The role of the Peer Support Worker is to come alongside our clients while developing a treatment plan and supporting them to achieve their recovery goals in a safe and supportive setting, encouraging and supervising clients as they engage with the various aspects of our recovery program. The role will involve reviewing and developing client treatment plans in close conjunction with other key stakeholders including the counselling team, other operational staff, volunteers, and other service providers in delivery of the Tenacious House program. This is a meaningful opportunity to use lived experience, skills, and compassion to support others while being part of a values-driven organisation that is making a real difference.

Key responsibilities

  • Support participants to engage in the recovery program and achieve personal goals
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with participants and staff
  • Assist with daily routines, activities, and community living responsibilities
  • Complete shift notes, progress reports, and handovers
  • Conduct safety check-ins and follow wellbeing and risk protocols
  • Support development of relapse prevention and transition plans
  • Participate in case reviews and team meetings
  • Facilitate or assist with activities, appointments, and community engagement
  • Maintain a safe, trauma-informed and culturally respectful environment

What we’re looking for

Skills and experience
  • Lived experience of recovery (AOD and/or mental health) highly regarded
  • Certificate III/IV in AOD, Mental Health, Peer Work or related field (or willingness to obtain)
  • Understanding of recovery frameworks and the 12-step model preferred
  • Ability to work within a trauma-informed and culturally secure framework
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
