The Reintegration Puzzle Conference 2024

Event Date : 19-21 June 2024

The Reintegration Puzzle Conference 2024

The 2024 Reintegration Puzzle Conference will take place over 19 – 21 June 2024 at Rydges World Square, Sydney. Abstracts and proposals are now welcome that address the conference theme ‘Stepping Up’. There are five broad sub-themes:

  1. Collateral Consequences (For example: presentations exploring how harmful restrictions – legal and otherwise – impact people who have conviction histories and how to respond to this).
  2. Community Responses (For example: presentations exploring how communities and community sector organisations can better provide support when it comes to re-entry).
  3. Researchers as Allies (For example: presentations exploring how researchers can work with the community and with people who have experienced incarceration to improve the evidence base when it comes to re-entry and reintegration).
  4. System Barriers and System Change (For example: presentations exploring the systems, policies and structures that need to change to improve opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated populations).
  5. Campaigning for Change (For example: presentations that give examples of how we might ‘step up’ in terms of bringing about change).

Presentations should align with one of the sub-themes and the conference organisers welcome abstracts from priority groups including First Nations people and people with lived experience of incarceration.

Support is available to help you prepare your submission if required. Please contact Jenny Crosbie, Conference Coordinator, at [email protected].

Submissions close Friday 2 February 2024.
