Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) Certification Readiness

Rochelle has recently returned to the alcohol and other drug sector, following a career that has focused on strategic and organisational transformation spanning multiple human service sectors. Rochelle has worked to improve outcomes for vulnerable people through systemic change, and organisation, function, and program re-design and development. Building effective and trusted relationships with key stakeholders is pivotal to Rochelle’s approach and is essential in her new role at WANADA, focusing on supporting sector quality and expanding access to AOD services with the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector.

Rochelle graduated with Honours in Psychology and Politics and is passionate about working strategically and in partnership to improve outcomes for WA’s most vulnerable people.

Having worked in the not-for-profit sector whilst completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing, Rebecca has joined AHCWA in the AOD Accreditation Support Officer role. Throughout the Project process, Rebecca’s role is to support and collaborate with the engaged services across WA. Passionate about improving health and social determinant outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Rebecca looks forward to the implementation of this Project and the opportunities it may bring to the sector.

Margaret has extensive experience providing political and policy advice to Government Ministers within Australia and has worked in similar positions overseas. Margaret has wide experience auditing within the human services area as well as meeting with, and interviewing clients with severe disabilities, dual diagnosis, alcohol and other drug, mental health issues and within the disability and enterprise employment areas.

Margaret audits under ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, National Standards for Disability Services - National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP) and (DES/SES), Human Services Quality Standards, Quality Assurance Framework, Standards on Culturally Secure Practice (Alcohol and other Drug Sector), Standard on Therapeutic Communities and Residential Rehabilitation Services, the National Standards for Mental Health Services and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Margaret has worked as an independent contractor for the Institute for Healthy Communities Australia for twelve years.

Tabetha has worked in the WA human services sector since 2005. She began her career at the WA Drug and Alcohol Office (DAO) and went on to work at the WA Mental Health Commission (MHC) before moving into consulting in 2016. Her roles within State Government included senior program, policy, procurement and management roles.

As an independent consultant Tabetha works for and with a breadth of clients including the MHC, WAPHA, WANADA, WAAMH, IHCA and a range of non-government AOD, mental health and other human services providers, including specialist Aboriginal controlled organisations. Her work in consulting includes a breadth of project, quality, compliance and sector development work demonstrating her expertise in the mental health and alcohol and other drug sector and culturally secure way of working. 

As an independent contract auditor since 2019, Tabetha currently audits under the Alcohol and Other Drug Human Services Standard and the Standard for Therapeutic Communities and Residential Rehabilitation Services (STCRRS).

Gail’s employment background includes careers in nursing, the Royal Australian Navy and Real Estate. She also has extensive experience in small business management in both hospitality and agriculture (viticulture). Gail is a Lead Auditor and has been working as an independent contractor for over ten years. Over the past decade Gail has worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia. She has a wide auditing experience within the human services industry. Involved in the pilot of Standard on Culturally Secure Practice (SCSP) since 2011 and the standards review to AODHSS. Gail has long held the view that support/coaching (phone a friend) to clear the fog and the fear of the auditing process is long overdue, and she welcomes the opportunity to work alongside the organisations to achieve certification. Gail audits under ISO 9001:2015, Human Services Quality Standards, National Standards for Disability Services – National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP), Alcohol and other Drug Human Services Standard (AODHSS) Standard on Therapeutic Communities and Residential Rehabilitation Services (STCRRS) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
