About Tenacious House

Tenacious House provides an innovative, voluntary residential rehabilitation program for men who are experiencing co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. Our Integrated Recovery and Connection Program combines residential treatment, hospital shared care, and community services to deliver an evidence-based, holistic recovery approach.

About the role

We are seeking a full-time bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial health and reporting for our growing NFP organisation.

Reporting to, and working closely with the Finance and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for recording, organising, maintaining, and reporting accurate, up-to-date financial data to support organisational decision-making. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to contribute directly to the strong financial stewardship of a community-focused organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all daily financial transactions are accurately processed and documented
  • Prepare accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Allocate expenditure to grant-funded projects
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports and assist with the preparation of budgets
  • Contribute to end-of-year processes and audits
  • Assist with grant acquittals and associated external audits
  • Prepare monthly Business Activity Statement returns
  • Prepare payroll and ensure compliance with legislative requirements
  • Support the development and review of financial policies and procedures
  • Liaise professionally with external stakeholders

What we’re looking for

  • Degree in either commerce, finance or accounting preferred
  • Have demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting
  • Experience within the NFP sector preferred
  • Have demonstrated and well-developed personal leadership with the ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team
  • A passionate, self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a small organisation that is undergoing growth in size and capability
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Have a current Driver’s License
  • Must be an Australian permanent resident or citizen
