Inquiry Into Health Impacts of Alcohol and Other Drugs – Perth Hearing
Inquiry Into Health Impacts of Alcohol and Other Drugs - WANADA attends Perth Hearing
WANADA CEO Jill Rundle and Sector Development Manager Rochelle McIntosh joined WANADA Board Director and Peer Based Harm Reduction WA CEO Paul Dessauer to provide evidence to the Perth public hearing of the Inquiry into the health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia on Tuesday 14 April 2026.
WANADA presented on the unmet demand for treatment services in Western Australia, the potential to build the capability of intersecting services to respond appropriately to alcohol and other drug use, and the importance of a balanced, planned approach to reducing harm from alcohol and other drugs at a national level.
Originally established in 2024, the inquiry lapsed with the dissolution of Parliament and was re-referred in 2025, with submissions closing in late 2025. The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport visited Perth to hear directly from stakeholders.
Findings from the inquiry will inform a final report to the Australian Parliament,
