Watch Now: Hepatitis C Care
Watch Now: Hepatitis C Care Video for the Alcohol and other Drug Sector
WANADA has co-developed a new video with Peer Based Harm Reduction WA (PBHRWA) and Hepatitis WA, Hepatitis C in the Alcohol and Drug Sector: Awareness, Testing and Treatment which explores the prevalence of Hepatitis C, those most at risk, and efforts towards its elimination.
The video is part of WANADA’s Hepatitis C Care Capability Project, funded by the WA Department of Health, which supports alcohol and other drug services across Western Australia to strengthen their hepatitis C response at the service, organisational and sector levels.
Featuring insights from key project partners, the video includes:
- Matthew Armstrong (Hepatitis WA), who shares the latest facts, progress, and the support available;
- Peta Gava (Peer Based Harm Reduction WA), who brings a consumer-informed perspective on effective engagement and service improvement; and
- Tabetha McCallum, a capability coach and project partner, who introduces the HCV Care Capability in Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Tool (HCVCAT), a practical framework to help services assess and build their hepatitis C care capability.
Through the project, WANADA has worked alongside services to review and enhance their approach to hepatitis C care, including provision of education, screening for risk, and improving access to testing, treatment and ongoing support.
the video complements the HCV Care Capability in Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Tool (HCVCAT). Alcohol and other drug services continue to trust WANADA with their HCV Care Capability self-review results. We use these insights to spot system-level barriers and advocate for changes that improve access to testing, treatment, and ongoing support for people living with HCV.
Australians are working towards the elimination of HCV as a public health risk by 2030. Alcohol and other drug workers are in a unique position to support this. Watch the video on the WANADA website and YouTube channel to learn more.
