WANADA hosts Regional Alcohol and Other Drug Managers Forum in the Pilbara

WANADA hosts Regional Alcohol and Other Drug Managers Forum in the Pilbara

Regional alcohol and other drug service managers shared valuable insight into the specialist alcohol and other drug workforce during the two‑day Regional, Rural and Remote Managers’ Forum held in the Pilbara.

The forum enabled connection and collaboration, as well as knowledge and capability sharing among regional services, and continues to support WANADA’s advocacy on behalf of the WA alcohol and other drug sector.

Day one included discussions on workforce challenges and opportunities, alongside a warm welcome from Hope Community Services – Pilbara Community Alcohol and Drug Service in Karratha. We also attended a cultural tour of ancient rock art on Ngarda‑Ngarli Country at Murujuga National Park, a privilege that deepened understanding of local history and context.

Day two brought regional managers together at Yaandina Community Services’ Turner River Rehabilitation Centre for further discussions on workforce needs, regional priorities, and the development of regional profiles to support future planning. The Yaandina team also generously hosted visits to the Low Medical Detox Service and the Sobering Up Centre in Roebourne.

WANADA extends sincere thanks to Yaandina for their warm hospitality, generosity of time, and support in ensuring safe transport between sites, and to all regional managers for their ongoing commitment and contributions throughout the forum.
